“Teach on the Cheap”
Although the next a.r.t. event is a few months away, now is the time to act upon your arts advocacy. If you are a teacher, put on your listening ears. (Yes, very early elementary, but just trying to grab your attention.) And if you have any friends and/or family who are teachers, please spread the word.
The May 7 a.r.t. rummage sale is going to be unique in the sense that all items will be teacher materials/classroom items. This is truly a circular charity event. Teachers helping teachers… teachers helping kids get more art. But it doesn’t stop there. Retired teachers will be able to donate their teacher closets for a good cause. Retired teachers will be helping newbie teachers. Teachers will help teachers who are changing grade levels. It’s a win/win…win situation.
Please facebook, twitter, or old school call your teacher friends and family today. Ask if they would be willing to donate their unused items to the rummage. And share with them the May 7 date (location tba); they will be interested!
The actual day of the rummage is Saturday, May 7, but a.r.t. is accepting items from now until the beginning of May… even on the day of the rummage, we will gladly take donations. (School-related items only please.) Ideas for materials are (but not limited to) classroom furniture, centers materials, maps, books, posters… you name it.
If interested in working a shift at the event or to contact an a.r.t.-ist to donate, please contact Christina at christina@artistsrallingtogether.com .
Thank you, & let’s do what we can to give kids art during this difficult time in education.
Dance and love,
Christina M. Ratatori
p.s. Cash only please. There will be free Alterra coffee to sip while you shop on May 7. A great big thank you to Alterra for donating the caffeine.
